Back in the mid 1950's, the promoters of Rock City decided they were going to put their attraction on the map, by putting up thousands of "SEE ROCK CITY" birdhouses and painting a couple thousand road side barns with the same message, or "SEE 7 STATES FROM ROCK CITY", . . . and that they did. North to South and East to West . . . coast to coast they put a birdhouse or painted a barn on almost every road leading to Chattanooga Tennessee that anyone could drive.
